We are speaking at Food Ingredients Europe 2017

Posted 17 August, 2017

We are pleased to announce that Dr Elinor McCartney and Ing. Liza Van den Eede will be speaking at Food Ingredients Europe 2017 on 28-30 November in Frankfurt, Germany. The presentations will cover the new novel food regulation and EFSA initiatives for improved stakeholder engagement.

Join us to find out about the latest industry developments in growing markets such as clean labelling, natural/functional ingredients, salt, fat, and sugar reduction, health claims and weight loss management.

Dr Elinor McCartney’s presentation will focus on EFSA’s new initiatives to improve stakeholder engagement. In 2017, EFSA will be launching a Stakeholder Forum and Stakeholder Bureau, which will represent over 100 organisations involved in producing food “from farm to fork”, as well as organisations representing consumer interests and animal welfare. EFSA is considering, and may adopt best practices in stakeholder involvement from other entities, such as the EMA (European Medicines Agency). The EFSA initiative on stakeholder engagement is likely to bring benefits to FBOs (Food and Feed Business Operators), by improving dialogue and possibly removing roadblocks to better evaluation of REPROs (REgulated PROducts).

Ing. Liza Van den Eede, will be speaking about the new novel food regulation that will apply from 1 January 2018, introducing a centralised authorisation procedure. FBOs will need to be aware of some critical changes which the new regulation will bring.

The presentation will address the following points:

  • How will the procedure work?
  • What are the main changes?
  • What are the potential pitfalls applicants need to watch out for during the evaluation process?
