Changes to the novel food regulations: one year on – meet Pen & Tec at Health Ingredients Europe 2018

We are pleased to announce that Pen & Tec will be attending the Health Ingredients Europe 2018 on 27-29 November in Frankfurt, Germany.

We are also pleased to have been invited to present at this event for the second year in a row. Nicoleta Pasecinic will be delivering a presentation on “Changes to the novel food regulations: one-year on”.

In January 2018, the EU introduced a centralised authorisation system for novel food applications, meaning all new applications are now submitted directly to the European Commission rather than to individual Member States. The creation of a Union List also means all approved novel foods will be given generic authorisation. Almost a year after the implementation of these changes, how has it impacted the industry?

Has it made the process for novel food applications easier, or are there still hurdles to overcome? And what is included within the regulations?

Dr Hannah Lester, Scientific Director at Pen & Tec will be taking part in a panel discussion: is there an easier way to get scientifically-proven health claims? on Wednesday, 28 November from 2:25pm to 3:00pm.

Dr Hannah Lester is a research scientist with over 10 years’ experience in running veterinary clinical trials for regulatory approval. Dr Lester is responsible for feed and food registration projects in EU and other major jurisdictions, and also ensuring scientific and regulatory excellence in the work that Pen & Tec delivers.
